World Cancer Day was marked on the 4th of February and was the ideal opportunity to show how joining forces can have a global impact.  With this in mind, Friends Of Cancer Patients (FOCP), being the leading cancer-specific charity in the UAE, marked their invaluable presence by organising a #makeup workshop aimed at those who are dealing with the side effects of #cancer treatment.

The programme, “COLOR MY WORLD”, was put together a few months ago when we envisioned a way to offer our skills and services to those ladies that needed it the most by helping them to restore their lost confidence and by contributing to the community in a positive way.  FOCP not only believed in our idea but turned it into reality on a scale bigger than what we could have ever imagined.

The 3-hour workshop was sponsored by The Fairmont at The Palm so it goes without saying that the facilities and ambience were beautiful not to mention how spoilt we were made to feel by the pink-themed delicacies provided.  To top it all off, we were lucky enough to have all the makeup provided by The Body Shop which are known for their nature-inspired and ethically produced products making them ideal for our event which hosted  around 30 ladies.

As the idea of the workshop was #beauty from the inside as well as the outside, Nutritionist Karla Walter gave a 30’ talk providing her expert advice on #nutrition facts and answering questions from the audience.  For our session we did a step-by-step demonstration of a #natural look focusing on tips of how to tackle problem areas such as #skin #pigmentation while at the same time the audience practiced on themselves what they learned.

By the end everyone looked not only even more beautiful but left happy and full of confidence.  The event was a great success and as it will be held bimonthly we are looking forward to the next one!
