Miss India/UAE Beauty Contest

We were very excited to be selected to join the team of makeup artists and hair stylists to pretty up all the gorgeous contestants for the Miss India U.A.E beauty contest that was held at the Al Raha Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi on Saturday the 11th of April.

The team was put together by Reshu Malhotra, professional makeup artist and owner of The Artist Beauty Lounge, Dubai. It was such a wonderful experience to meet and work with the team. The contestants were all such beautiful, talented and lovely people and we were very lucky to work with such gorgeous faces. The girls had all been trained professionally, had gone through a professional photo shoot, they were confident and were aware of their individual style and makeup. Moreover, they had been provided with stunning shoes, jewellery, designer traditional Indian wear and evening gowns for the pageant. We absolutely loved the pink hashtag t-shirts #royalty the girls were wearing backstage too.

The transformation was amazing, these young women looked wonderful as they walked the ramp like experienced models considering most of them were new to this field. The models were wowed by an audience of 250 admirers and celebrity judges.

The first round of the competition featured the young women in high heels and traditional Indian dresses in bold reds, pinks and orange adorned in gold details and brilliant chandelier earrings. Many wore dazzling maang tikkas, an Indian hair ornament that dangles over the forehead.

In the second round, the girls showed off their Bollywood dance moves in a synchronized compilation of musical hits. Finally, they paraded in evening gowns before the judges eliminated all but five contestants. The final five were put through a question-and-answer session in which they were asked to express their views regarding issues such as the battle of the sexes, retirement policies in India and personal choices they have made that changed their lives.

Nivetha Peturaj was crowned the winner and will represent U.A.E. at the Miss India Worldwide to be held in Mumbai in September later this year. Stephanie Lahole, 18, was crowned first runner-up and Jyotsna Arora, 23 was crowned the second runner-up.

We have made sure to keep in touch with models and makeup artists that we worked with and we thoroughly enjoyed supporting their work now and in the future. It was a busy day, but most importantly, it was a great and fun experience being part of this fabulous event.

This spring is very exciting and we cannot wait for more beautiful moments in the glamorous world of colour.
